I was in the Winchester area with several hours to fill - so I decided to head down to the New Forest for the day. It's a place that I have always wanted to visit, but was quite different to what I was expecting - less forest and more open bracken. The ponies were wandering everywhere but seemed well used to the 40mph traffic.
Then on to Beaulieu for a visit to the National Motor Museum - which made a change from hanging around air museums. The purpose-built museum was excellent with everything ranging from horse-drawn carriages to F1 racing cars and penny-farthings to the latest racing bikes. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
